Hello! This is Gustav and Ebba, we are the new interns from Tingvalla Gymnasium in Sweden and we will post our blogs for a couple weeks while we intern here with Kon-Tiki Krabi in Ao Nang, Thailand.

We have completed our first job week. We have done different things. In the beginning of the week Gustav spend the first day working in the shop. In the shop we start our day with cleaning the masks, windows, floor and the step outside. We fill up with stock so the shop looks presentable. Gustav even register a few new members in diving in the computer system which we use in the shop. Gustav refilled t-shirts, and organised them all and completed a stock check, printed new price tags. Ebba was at Centara Grand Beach Resort to assist in our Marine center. Centara is a five star beach resort where Kon-Tiki has a shop, as in Ao Nang. I had never been there before so I started with to orient myself in the area so I knew where I could find everything. After the pool try dives, i came back to the shop and spend my time cleaning and organising equipment for sale, talk to the guests and see if they needed some help. Centara was a paradise and the people in the area was really kind and they wanted to know more about my internship here in Thailand. A good day!

Open Water course interns

One day we each went on the boat. On the morning before we went to the boat we helped the staff to pack the equipment. After that we picked up some ice, water, fruit and food. We entered the boat after a small ride with a longtail boat with all stuff for the day. When we were on the boat we put things like equipment, food, water, ice etc on the right places. During the day we learned how things working out on the boat like listening on the briefing and we also shadowed a snorkel guide to learn what they do. During the first stop we were in the water together with the snorkel guide and tried to learn some fishes. When Ebba came up from the water she felt a little bit seasick hehe? But it ended out! When the boat was back in Ao Nang we thanked all the guests for the daytrip. The long trail boat picked us up and we started to load all the equipment. We left back everything on our way back to the diving center. At the diving center we started to clean the equipment before we went home. Friday and Saturday we continued our Open Water course, and we made it!! We are now certificated Open Water divers, wiihooo!!

Trash Hero interns

Sunday we were volunteers and we helped the organisation “Trash Hero” to pick up trash from the Nopparat Thara beach together with other people. we were 15 volunteers and we all get around 15 kg trash during the day. The Trash heroes is an organisation with the mission to create sustainable, community-based projects that remove existing waste, and reduce future waste by inspiring long-term behaviour change.

We hope you will follow our time here in Thailand – more from us next week.
