Big white rabbits are fluffy, blue water reefs and fish, burgers with relish and fries!
Your instructor and dive buddies over time have probably shared so many of these – it doesn’t matter how you remember – just remember how important the Predive Safety Check is. Often once a course is finished divers forget the importance and once out of the habit it’s very easy to not get back into it. It doesn’t matter how many dives you have or what your experience level is this check must be done before every dive that you do.
It takes maybe 5 minutes of your time and can easily be done whilst the boat is maneuvering into position to drop divers into the water. It might sound amusing, but I’ve seen divers on the back platform of the boat with no fins, or no weight belt, or even their sunglasses still on!
Sounds simple, but if you jump in for a drift dive how will you get back to the boat to pick up this equipment? Stress for all concerned.Small problems can become big ones very easily, all for the sake of a white rabbit or a burger with relish.
Make it fun and collect examples of mnemonics as you travel the world and meet new people. Divers love to swap advice and stories!
